Annual Rose Sale

One of the greatest flower sales of the year in Des Moines has got to be the annual rose sale at Hy-Vee. This sale takes place usually around mid July each year and you can get two long stem roses for only one dollar. Yes, you heard me right. 2 roses for a buck! That is cheaper than a candy bar. These flowers are always very nice and come in a variety of colors. They usually have an abundant supply on hand and the sale lasts for around a week. The sale takes place at any area HyVee with a floral department and you are able to get the roses wrapped as a bouquet or they also go nicely in a vase.

This sale presents a prime opportunity for you guys to pick up a dozen roses for your wife or girlfriend for only six dollars. Or if you want to be a gentleman and make your female co-workers feel appreciated and valued show up with a vase full of yellow, orange, and pink roses and a card for all the women in the office. This is a great way to make some feel good by giving a rare gift without breaking the bank. At fifty cents per flower the possibilities are endless.

Typically you can find out the exact dates of the sale by watching their weekly ads or deal sites like http://slickdeals.net will usually always catch this sale. Happy shopping.

Classic Floral Design

There was an Interesting article in the Des Moines Register the other day on a metro Des Moines Flowers shop. The article gives a review of Classic Floral Design, in Waukee. Great stuff on a store that provides not just flowers, but also mylar balloons for all occasions, plants and gifts.

Classic is a perfect fit for the name of Classic Floral Design as it reminds me of your traditional mom and pop small business. It is owned and operated by Lyn Schafer, a veteran florist, with over forty years in the business. In addition to Lyn, Berniece Johnson, has been providing quality customer service and floral expertise at Classic Floral Design for fifteen years. One neat feature of this Des Moines Flowers shop is that Lyn also makes and sells her own soaps and lotions. The soap runs around for $4.95 a bar or $12 for three bars. The lotion is $7.50 for an 8-ounce bottle.

The article has a great quote by Lyn, “Flowers are not a necessity like food and fuel, and as a business owner, I have to keep that in mind. Service is a priority and I make sure my flowers are of good quality and long-lasting.”
