I first turned to Boesen Florists. It is a large family owned florist here in Des Moines. I talked to a wonderfully friendly gentleman, explained the project I wanted to with my art students and he was have to give me some flowers. My largest class was fifteen so I told him that a dozen should be enough. He had them ready the next day and even asked if there was any particular kind that I wanted. I thought any variety would be nice. So a woman at the store got a rose, a posy, an iris, a carnation, one or two sunflowers, something like a small lily, flowers with blooms along the whole stem… I don’t know flower names too well. I’d say there was a dozen stems, even more flowers.

I am very excited to see how their watercolor projects turn out, and I am thankful to Boesen for donating flowers so that my kids can “see” something beautiful in a new way.”
